Outdoor Activities

Downtown Richmond comes alive with an abundance of outdoor concerts and festivals every summer. These include:

Riverfront Outdoor Movies...
features great flicks for the whole family in a unique outdoor setting. Remember to pack blankets and lawn chairs. Takes place every Thursday evening in August on Brown’s Island.

Wednesdays on the Waterfront...
features local musicians, plus great food and drink. This runs from May through June at the Canal Turning Basin by 14th Street.

The Big Gig, Richmond’s Summer Musicfest...
features more than 50 free concerts in two weeks. Performances take place on Brown’s Island as well as non-traditional concert venues such as neighborhood parks and gardens.

Friday Cheers...
features the Region’s top bands. A Richmond Region tradition and a great way to unwind at the end of the workweek. May through August on Brown’s Island.



EXPLORE RICHMOND'S 100 ACRE ADVENTURE, MAYMONT PARK

Visitor Center, Grounds, Wildlife Exhibits and Gardens
Daily, 10am - 5pm
Hampton Street and Spottswood Road entrances remain open until 7pm from April - October, weather permitting.

Visit the Children's Farm Barn, Maymont Shop, Maymont Cafe, Nature Exhibits, hay ride, tram ride, tour of Maymont House. Lots of gardens to see!

LEWIS GINTER BOTANICAL GARDEN
is located just north of the intersection of Lakeside Avenue and Hilliard Road in Richmond, Virginia, the Garden is open every day (except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's) from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm. For information about admission fees, classes, events and membership, call (804) 262-9887.
